Advance warning of a grand day out.

Recommended Posts

At La Mothe St Héray, 79, Brocante and Antiquities fair held over 2 days - 30th and 31st July - hundreds of stalls selling everything from dining tables to hat pins, in market square, in the salle under the town hall, as well as lining the main street (pedestrianised for the duration)

At the Moulin du Pont l'Abbé, the restored 11th century water mill near centre of town, there'll be an exhibition about the old tramway that used to connect most of the important towns in Deux-Sèvres.

Last but not least, at the 17th century Orangery, there'll be an exhibition of paintings and sculptures by local artists, and an auction of furniture and household goods from 7pm.  A local Brit will be helping the auctioneer and translating.  Viewings of the lots can take place in the afternoon. The auction will be followed by a 'repas sur place' and dancing.
