The Riff-Raff Element
We're in the very south of the Vendée, a little way from Marans. Certainly here the water restrictions (including no agricultural use, no topping up of pools) remain in force here and will "for the immediate future." It would seem that ground water levels are at the lowest yet recorded and our rainfall year to date is somewhat less than is typical for January alone, so I guess restrictions of some kind into next year are quite likely. chris pp
Restrictions in Poitou-Charentes are liable to be with us for a considerable time, the rain we have had has just about wet the ground, it will not have touched the underground systems. Have a look at the ponds ( often dry holes ) and the rivers, many of which are near empty and not moving.Chris.
