ali-cat
I'm coming over to Charente, in March, to start house hunting - but there is one thing I just have to know .... will my hair straighteners work?? I have been know to scare small children at 100 paces without them!! As far as I know they are 250v with a 13 amp fuse - will a typical european adapter work? Of coures, this also applies to other small appliances, when we move - toasters, kettles irons etc. Please help - I'm desperate - & totally embarressed!![:$]
andyh4
If they work in the UK, they will work in France. I suggest that you change all of the plugs to French ones and do not use adaptors on any of the appliances you mention. They all draw quite high currents and the adaptors are not rated for this. Learn from one who has experienced an adaptor meltdown with live poles sticking out of the molten plastic. Rule of thumb, if it is more than a 5 amp fuse, then change the plug.
