Rich1972
Hi allI'm on the Charente/Vienne border, about halfway between Civray and Ruffec (16700) and I've been trying to find a ramoneur pour le ramonage to come and sweep two chimneys. No luck with the online Yellow Pages. Does anyone have a recommendation? I'd be very grateful as time is getting on and it really needs doing. Many thanksRich

Clair
Go to http://www.pagesjaunes.fr/, enter ramonage in the first field and your dept number (or nearest other dept) in the second field, then click on trouver.EDIT: We do it ourselves, but I remember paying €60 3 or 4 years ago. Some roofers do sweeping at this time of year.Ask your neighbours who they use or call one of the firms listed in Pages Jaunes for a possible recommendation closer to your home. tegwini
Thanks Clair But, is it OK to allow a non-ramoneur to do it ? I have someone in mind who is a plumber. Will this affect your house insurance if there is a fire?RegardsTegwini
Clair
The chimney sweeping question usually comes up around this time of the year...A forum search for "ramonage" will bring up the previous threads and help you decide.http://www.completefrance.com/cs/forums/850285/ShowPost.aspx

Froggy Lou
Can't help with a recommendation as am too far away but we had ours done last month and it was 50 Euros. But, I think some of the other posts are a bit worrying - I have checked with our house insurer - if we have a fire and don't have a current ramonage certificate (just the receipt is fine as long as it's dated & signed) our insurance is invalid!!!
