chessfou3
Oh what a jolly theme. However, ...My wife and I live here, our children (2) live in the UK. First death should not be a problem ... financially ... but we want to avoid any temporary financial problem(s) for the kids after 2nd death (or in the event of our joint death).Assurance obsèques is one possibility, but they all seem to pay out by cheque, which may not be an adequate solution (especially if, in our dotage, we were to return to the UK).Therefore, I have started to investigate UK companies, but they seem only to write policies for those with a permanent UK address. We can't be the only people in this position. Anyone got a solution?Resumé:Wanted - a UK policy that will pay out a smallish (GBP 3-4-5k, maybe x2) on second (or joint) death.
cooperlola
Pacifica do them - they also have an English speaking service to help you through the process included in the price. But it ain't cheap! Not at all like those thing Parky advertises in Britain.[:)] What happens if you tranfer back to the UK I don't know.To get a quote you can start here:http://www.britline.com/campaign/insurance-challenge-2011/More details here:http://www.britline.com/pdf/flyer_funeral_planning.pdf

Looks like the answer is yes ...

cooperlola
If you took Pickles's option but added the Previsio option from CA, you'd be sorted as you'd have French advice and a UK policy. I think it's worth 20€ a year to have english speaking advice on French arrangements, whatever you decide to do but that's just a personal opinion (I'm not paid by Britline!)[:)]
chessfou3
and thanks Pickles, but the Coop Bond only seems relevant were we to be in the UK.What I'm looking for is something that will pay out (in Sterling presumably) to the kids, so that they will not be put to any hardship to pay for the funeral costs here in France. That would seem to be the only solution to cater for both possibilities - we stay here - we return to UK. cooperlola
I think that both the Pacifica and Co-op policies pay the funeral directors direct. It may thus be that it's a better option just to pay for a life insurance policy which you could be cashed in and used for anything when you die. Again though, I think the advice option is quite a good idea so that your requests are lodged here and the family is informed in English about what to do next.
