Punch
The only English Maire I know of in France is ken Tatham, the Maire of St Céneri (near Alençon, dept 61). Known by the locals as the "rosbif maire", he came to France in 1970 married a French lady and became Maire of this small commune. In 2001 he was the only English Maire in France, and I beleive he is now in his second or third term of office. Things may have changed since, and it would be interesting to know if there are any other expat Maires in France.Paul
Teamedup
I was always told that non french nationals cannot become Maire. If this gentleman is married to a french lady then it would probably be very easy for him to have taken on french nationality. And then he could be Maire.
