HoneySuckleDreams
HelloHas anyone had any luck using the new functionality the bank have just given us online. "Transferts Internationaux" . I've tried several times and each time it gives me an error saying my IBAN number is incorrect.I know the number is correct as I use the same number when I physically go into the bank and use the paper method, and also it works perfectly well from another bank I use.I contacted the helpies at the bank and they said the number I was entering was wrong. My suspicion is that when the software checks the code I enter it is looked for GBxx where xx is the checksum. The page to enter the number only allows you to enter GB in one box and then xx in another.So...has anyone had got this to work?
allanb
I've made several transfers on line from the Banque Postale to other European countries (including the UK), but not using "transferts internationaux". I use the "virements et prélèvements" option. I've never had a problem with an IBAN, but the system requires a BIC as well, and I expect there would be a problem if the BIC didn't match the relevant part of the IBAN. Could this be the problem? Although I've never used the "transferts internationaux" service, I had a look at it and it seems that it's intended for sending cash to countries outside SEPA, mostly in Africa. It lists the countries for which the service is available; there are about twenty of them and the list begins "Algeria, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon…"I wonder if there's some confusion between the two services. On the other hand, if that was the problem, the "helpies" should have known.
HoneySuckleDreams
Thanks alanb.II've tried the "virements et ...." stuff as well, but still no joy. The BIC has to be entered as well so no problems there. The list of countries is pretty exhaustive. You can send money via western union as well which is probably why the African countried are on the list (when you want to send money to that specific General in the Nigerian Army), but I want SEPA bank-to-bank.I've created the IBAN on several websites that help you create them and they all come back the same as the IBAN i've been entering (which is the same IBAN number I enter at the bank on the paper method). I've even worked it out long hand to make sure the checksum is correct (and it is), so I have no idea what is the problem.I've sent another missive to the helpies so I will see what happens. Probably a gallic-email-it's-not-our-problem-it-must-be-you
allanb
I wish I could suggest something else, but I can't. If you ever find the solution, I'd be interested to know what it is.
suein56
... but I want SEPA bank-to-bank ... so I have no idea what is the problem.
Just a thought but are you trying to send more than the daily limit ? I ran into this snag when moving money to pay for our house back in April. I had no idea what I was doing wrong and the system did not tell me ... just refused to accept the transfer out.Sue

Ours is excellent ... she has helped me in the past (by phone) when I hit a snag registering an external account online. Sue
idun
I have had problems using the banque to bank system. The problem being that the amount I needed to transfer was too much. There was a 3000€ limit at one point which was not indicated anywhere. My conseillere didn't know about it and that information was not available to her and she always tries her best, she is as good as she can be, and IF the useless banque gave her a bit more info and training would be a five star conseillere. However, she has to pass me onto the siege sociale and the morons and frankly ignorant idiots there, that is mild in comparison to what I was thinking about them.So is it the amount that is the problem? My problem kept saying I had input the wrong info and I too thought that it was an iban/bic problem.
HoneySuckleDreams
HiSorted! eventually. It was because I was selecting "Autre Devise" (silly me thought that I would need to select that, as the desination currency is GBP). What I should have been doing (and finally tried) was select EUR i.e. the currency of my La Poste account.Anyway it let me do it. Just annoyed that the error message, like yours Idun, had me barking in the wrong forest. I think they must have written the software with just a single error message. I would be mortified if I ever wrote something that shoddy. Idun : the page where you select which type of transfer you want to do has the limits, in my case 3000GBP
