John Brown
I would welcome any advice regarding the best method of payment for buying Gas from AntargazThey seem to offer several ways to payWe only need gas for hot water and to supplement our Log Burner. The central heating is on just until the stove fires up in the morning and when its mild but not cold outsideWe have the tank filled up about every 18 months now but it cost over 1400 euro last time it was re-filled to the limit
AnOther
Not sure I understand the question. You say they offer several ways to pay so surely it's just up to you to decide which suits you best ?€1400 for 18 months of relatively sparse use - ouch !If you are using gas for DHW have you thought of installing a chauffe eau ?Mine costs me ~€10/mth for unlimited hot water, or to put it another way, I have yet to run out of it despite a houseful of friends and family some of whom insist on taking a bath instead of showering. suein56
Service Propamatic appears to let you pay monthly by DD but is there a sting in the tail ?The formula to work out the payment ( set by them ) seems complicated
Having just googled 'service propamatic antargaz' there seem to be quite a few people who are unhappy with the system and cancel that contract; some even cancelling Antargaz altogether and opting for Totalgaz. The main problem seems to be Antargaz put the monthly payments at too high a level so the client goes into credit, which Anta refuse to pay back but, instead, deduct from the following year's bill BUT without reducing the monthly payment so the problem escalates. One advantage of the contract was that Anta would come and fill your tank without you having to check and make the call. One sound suggestion was to not have a contract at all but to make a monthly payment into a savings account equivalent to the monthly cost of the gaz and then pay for the gaz when the tank is filled.Sue

Well as much as one can be in France.
John Brown
Thanks Sue and idunNever thought to Google the questionI'll do as you suggest with the savings bit, rather than leaving the cash in our general savings and post off a chequeThe tank belongs to Antargaz but I'll enquire about Totalgaz and see if they just swap ownership of the tank ( buried in the garden)Thats if the cost per litre is cheaper ?
