Wendywj
I have a friend who has a barn attached to her completely renovated and beautiful house. She wishes to change the barn from being just a garage into a bedroom, office and a bathroom and WC. She doesn't intend to make any new windows or doors or alter the outside of the building. The mairie has told her that she can only renovate 50m2 of the barn but then her architect came back to her and told her just to use the original plans which are more like 100m2.... and that nobody would know. She is new to France and doesn't want to breaks laws and so on.... can anyone give advice on this situation and can she change the mairie's mind anyhow? Teamedup
Now why would a fully qualified architect tell someone to break the local planning regulations? I don't understand this. I suppose that your friend told this person that they could only develope 50m.
Piprob
What do you mean "original plans"? Its important to know whether the barn was ever part of a planned and 'registered' site development. The Marie does not exist to sabotage the original planning permissions. But it will be advisable to find out what they were.Robert
