Land for development

Following Rosyposy's thread we have just learnt that the field behind our house and garden is due to be sectioned up into 3 building plots. We have been informed that we can be present when this is done (bourne posted?) Is there anything we should be aware of or ask either before or at the time?

Obviously we would rather it wasn't done at all but we gather the plot has had building permission for a number of years.
