Just Katie
Hi, I know this is a longshot, but my husband was recently hospitalised in Nice and shared a room with a real character (french). The were both bed ridden with leg injuries at the time and with the aid of a dictionary really hit it off. This guy lives in St Rafael and we are visiting the area this summer for husbands 40th. We did not get frenchys address but I would like to contact him to meet up with him as a surprise for my husband as there was a real brotherly bond there, you know a laughter with morphine sort of thing.Anyway, if anybody does any socialising in St Raphael please pm me so I can pass on a description of our friend (who is quite unusual). Also, any ideas of where to start looking would be welcome. I hope someone can help
Will
Sounds like you have been reading the current Living France where there was a very similar story, except it was in Normandy rather than Nice. If you can't find the man you are looking for then maybe the chap who wrote the article would do instead? It seems that you have a lot in common [:D]
Just Katie
Hi Will, thank you for replying. As we are not face to face I dont know whether or not you think I am mucking about. Honestly this one is a serious one. The guy kept telling us he will visit us in the Tarn when we go there but with signing hubby out of hospital, driving his wheelchair and the lingo and all that I clean forgot to get his address. They were together in a ward for one month and laughed and cried together (not to mention bedpans). They pulled each other through alot and I would dearly love my husband to meet up with him this summer.I think he would be well known in his area. He was born and bred in St Raphael, he is a painter and decorator and also has a fishing boat so I think he would know a lot of people. He also liked to socialise alot so I think he would be quite well known in the bars also.
Will
Sorry KKK - sometimes you can't tell when people are being serious. It sounds as if somebody ought to know this chap, so I hope you find him. Maybe the maire of St Raphael could help?
Just Katie
Thanks Will, I have considered this but thought would he really waste his time on little old me. However, as time is moving on I will indeed send him a heartfelt and hope for the best. I still hope someone in St Raph will contact me and I tell you what if ever anyone made contact with him on my behalf, what a bloke!!!
Rob Roy
Have you tried asking the hospital who he was? The nursing staff may well remember him.

Just Katie
Thank you both, I thought of contacting the hospital but I cant see them disclosing his information to me although I could ask them to pass a letter on to him. Yes I will do that. I will also go on Anglo Info. Fingers crossed.

Blanche Neige
Just a thought, if you know the name of this man then you might be able to trace him via the phone book or pages-blanches as they list people by the towns they live in.

Missy
KKK! Have you thought of going back to the hospital and ask them kindly, to go back through their records on which ever date your hubby was there, if they would give you that person's address. If you say that it is to prolong the friendship, etc... they can only oblige! surely?....
