Audois
Went to see the controleur of business tax yesterday who I know quite well & ended up with them for an hour having a chat about life in general here ...What came out was that they were aware that the Dordogne is being 'swept' by taxmen ... and the Pyrenees Orientales is next with Aude not far behind. The feeling was also (quite scarily) that the region is starting to feel intimidated by the amount of non-French speaking Anglo-Saxons. The way they are going about business down here - ie. UK registered companies, VAT charging & working on the black, taking the local economy's work away & the use/abuse of French medical system by those who don't input into the French economy. Having seen a lot of advertisements without No. de Sirets offering the same services as others who have No. de Sirets I can understand their angst & if it happened 'at home' I'm sure others would feel the same way ... Ian
I have heard that being "swept" by a taxman is not a wholly pleasant experience - even for those of us who aren't up to no good. They use a fine-tooth comb to sweep you with apparently - ouch!
