cooperlola
You have to click on "Map" becaue the Hybrid doesn't work but it's herehttp://www.fra.cityvox.fr/restaurants_carcassonne/aux-berges-du-canal_200057750/PlanAccesbtw, the "Citivox" website is great for this kind of thing - also the feedback from the public on restaurants, things to do, etc, not just the usual journalists' puff stuff. crépuscule
Have you tried Le Moulin de Trèbes in Trèbes? Admittedly, not easily walkable from Carcassonne but it is on the Canal du Midi. Great location by the canal locks and good food.
Pads
Yes we did walk to Trebes from Carcassonne one day and thats where we ate , it was very nice , but the walk back was a killer, Had to sit in the garden with a glass of wine or 2 the next day[:)] but it was a loverly walk and very romantic walking hand in hand on the tow path. Polly
Route minervois is just by the side of the canal du midi and starts by the station. There is another nice restaurante there called Le grande bouffe where they cook on a wood fire. Another good one on route minervois is restaurant gil. Excellent for fish. Jonzjob
Hi P, your Aux Berges du Canal is easy walking from the main port in Carcassonne, about 300 yards. From the rail station cross the canal and turn imediate left away from the port. It's not far from where the canal goes under the railway bridge on the right. Not been ther though. Just before you get to the bridge is a highly recomended place on the right again. Very good fish and goodies. We sat outside one of the restuarants by the bridge and watched some HUGE platters of seafood being delivered to one of the 'Tupperware tubs' (hire boats) and it looked wonderful!!Another good one in the middle of Bass Carcassonne is directly opposite the Municiple Theatre, called La Comédie. A brasserie run by a lovely French couple. Good food at a good price too. It's just down the pedestrian road from the arch opposite the Para regiment headquatersTrebes. The Moulin, for us, is expensive for what you get, but the entries are lovely. We have been there several times because some friends like it. Over priced and the boxer bitch attacked Celé with no interest from the owners! We much prefer the piza restuarant on the edge of the port. Good food for the price and friendly! One good thing about the Trebes locks is that they are wonderful spectator sport on a Saturday in season. The holidayers pick up the boats from Trebes have their intensive 5 min training course and have a 1/4 mile Eastwards to get used to the boat before they are presented with a BIG triple lock!!! The antics have to be seen to be believed, wonderful fun![6][B] Nit any fun if they goe Westwards though [:(]...When are you back?
