Orange
LAST EDITED ON 18-Nov-03 AT 06:50 PM (GMT)Hi, we are to be in Paris on New Years eve (excited!!) and wondered what celebrations to look out for. Will it be crowded as in the UK (London) or more organised? We thought of heading toward the lights on the Effel Tower and watch from a distance as, I am told, they are turned on at midnight (or just after!). What will the public transport be like in terms of leaving Paris say by 1am? Dare I ask about the 'sales' for shopping and when do they start Dec or Jan?Many thanks
Richardbk
New year celebrations are generally a much less public affair than in the UK. E.g towns and villages are deserted as people usually celabrate with friends and family. In Paris the centre of the celebrations is Arc d Triomphe /Champs Elysees. Sales in Paris start much later than in the UK, usually in the 2nd/3rd week of January.regsRichard

Ruley
Hi, I've read about trocs, and would find them useful and fascinating ! How do you locate one in your area ? Is there a website, are they in yellow pasge, or does it take a visit to le mairie ?
