Lindylou
Hi, anyone in 22 know where we can get a nice beam, can they be bought new, I presume these days that most old buildings are awaiting renovation, and not for stripping out, Any ideas please.Lindylou. Alexis
Try the local papers. You can often find them for sale. Ouest France on a Saturday is good.Long lengths of new wood can be ordered from places like Big Mat.

Dick Smith
That's a similar price (pro rata) for a beam we are having replaced (at the builder's cost, under guarantee) - the problem being that the old one was weak and sagged a bit. Remember that you may be comparing green oak with seasoned wood, but that shouldn't cause such a price difference.
