leann
I am planning to sell up and move to Normandy with my family early in the new year and would greatly appreciate any advice you may have. My partner will be coming back to the UK for 2 weeks of the month to work so jobs etc will not be a concern. Advise on notiares fees, signing contracts, insurances etc would be a great help. Also what is the best type of heating system to instsall? And does anyone have any ideas as to which is the most ecconomical? Thanks Leann
Stuart
LeannGood luck with your plans - I'm sure you won't regret making the move. What we did when we started going through the buying process was to spend 2-3 months trawling through as many websites and forums that we could find and gradually built up a fair picture of what we should expect. I'm not saying we knew it all by any means but we did get a good overview.I must say that this Living France site was probably our main source of information - there are some very experienced and knowledgable people on here and you can almost always find what you need by using the search function or, failing that, by simply posting a question in the most relevant section. The other sites that I found to be really useful were:La Vie Normande: http://www.letheil.com/cgi-bin/vnforum/ikonboard.cgiTotal France: http://www.totalfrance.com/france/forum/index.phpFrench Entree: http://www.frenchentree.com/fe-home/This French Life: http://www.thisfrenchlife.comAll of these have some very useful information on all aspects of French living, such as travel news, house purchase know-how, language tips, finance and banking, and general gossip and information.Happy hunting.Stuart
