cricri
I do too Gardian. I heard something towards the end of lastyear that from the 1st Jan 2013 Mr Hollande would tax money transfers fromabroad. Something to do with topping up the economy. Might also be something todo with the French ministers hiding their hard earned cash in overseasaccounts. Hence…telling the tax man about overseas accounts. I need to go to mybank this week so I will ask and inform the group.

nomoss
Maybe you heard something about the EU Financial Transaction Tax to be levied on financial institutions?http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/taxation/other_taxes/financial_sector/
idun
If you are transferring from the UK, well, it is in the EU and classed as such, so there should be no charge. Now if the UK leave, who knows. When I first started transferring money to the UK on a regular basis, my french conseillere told me that the charge would be the same as a eurozone transfer, that is how she explained it and now they don't charge me at all. And if a french bank believes that the £ is 'in', as that is the actual term she used, in english 'in', then how could they charge within the eurozone????[Www]Ofcourse she could have been telling me a load of rubbish, but being charged next to nothing suited me and I don't even get charged these days for our regular transfers. Sprogster
As someone who deals with this on daily basis as part of my day job, I can reassure you that there are no taxes on transfers of money to France. Maybe, the person who told you this was confused with banking charges?
