YCCMB
Nope. But you can get a senior railcard - if you buy one -, reductions on Air France, and some other stuff IF you have low income. Whey you're 65, you get a free flu vaccine, and you've already been missing out on free mammograms..[:D]

YCCMB
The Gov.UK website, says"You’ll usually qualify for Winter Fuel Payment if:you were born on or before 5 January 1952 (for winter 2013 to 2014 - this date changes every year)"
idun
There are few advantages to being 60 in the UK now. The only one I can think of is free prescriptions in the UK, which bien sur does not apply to France.
NormanH
I find that there is less emphasis in giving things such as free bus passes to over 60sin France. Here such things go to those perceived (not all would agree on the criteria) as needing them, not to people on the basis of age.

Mind you, the french have done some cunning things in the last few years to reduce the amount that french state pensioners get, I have cursed them for it, but have some admiration for the way they did it too, as hardly anyone seemed to realise it was happening. Russethouse
Maybe there is a different mind set in France but in the UK the problem with giving these benefits to those in need is that in many instances those that should get them don't claim. But if you are genuinely in need ie have a low income, then you might not have to pay taxe d'habitation - though that will be dealt with automatically by the powers that be depending on your income.Sue
