Dublin_Annie
Hi We are planning to spend the summer in our house in St Vran, near Merdrignac. We have 2 sons, 12 and 7. The older on is concerned about the prospect of hanging out with mum or Dad all summer. I think it's a teenage thing, hope so anyway! More to the point Mum might not be there and Dad will be busy working most of the time.We saw lots of French kids attending sailing classes etc at the lake near us. Anyone know where we can find out more about these? Also he's into martial arts. Any clubs around where he can attend classes and hopefully make a few friends. His French is pretty poor but he's keen to improve so English and or French kids. We'll be over in March so can have a better look around then.thanks
Alexis
Oh dear. Not a lot in St Vran is there? I would try the Mairie. Some of the courses might be booked pretty early but you can leave your name.Don't children of 12 sleep all day now then? My daughters cetainly seemed to at that age
Val_2
You may not realise this but to do sailing sports inFrance you will be required to produce a health certificate from a french doctor and take out insurance. I know because for many years we were involved with the local Ecole de Voile until my son got fed up with travelling all over to the regattas, but each year both these items had to be produced. Alexis
I thought today that if the French children start a course for the whole of the summer holidays over here, they will have started three weeks at least, normally, before you son has finished for the summer. Unless you arrive early.I also forgot that there is a judo club in Ménéac which is, apparently, excellent. I will find out if it is open in the summer. It is about 15 minutes from St Vran. I passed through there today but it was closed.....
Dublin_Annie
Thanks Alexis, any info would be great. When do they finish school then? Early June? We won't be over until the beginning of July as they dont' break until 30 June here.
Alexis
That is ideal. The will finish end of June/beginning of July around here. My grandson doesn't finish until nearly the end of July...you must be in Foreign Parts already! I will find out about the judo..and anything else. GRT17
"...you must be in Foreign Parts already!"AlexisI believe that schools in Ireland and Scotland start (and end) their holidays earlier than schools in England. Gill
