Russethouse
I knew that my late fathers regiment went over to France after the D Day landings but I had never been able to find out too much about it. Today my mother gave me a pamphlet,it says 'typed, duplicated and produced "In the Field" ' which charts their experiences from 1939 - 1945.It mentions their time in France and how they went into harbour at Commes Longues. Some of the other places mentioned are Bayeux, Tilly sur Seulles, Villiers Bocage, Evrecy, Balleroy, Caumont etc. They eventually went up through France and 'the lowlands' and ended up on the Rhine.Of course it is of interest to me because my father was there, but I am just wondering if any other group would be able to make use of the info - (although we do want to keep the original). If so, who ?
Dick Smith
Best to donate it (or a photocopy) to the Imperial War Museum, then it will be available for researchers and genealogists. I would love to see a copy as well. I can give you a contact at the IWM if you want (off-forum).
