frexpt
Does anyone know whether a French speaking Belgian enterprises will normally accept a cheque drawn on a French bank account?I am ordering some spare parts from the manufacturer of a chainsaw and they have asked for payment by cheque. They take days to reply to any sort of question, hence the reason for asking here.

idun
I would think that they would, but there may be charges involved. Have they said why they don't want a SEPA payment, you could do it on line, if you do internet banking and my french bank, at least wouldn't charge me. No idea if yours would or not though. frexpt
I have received an email from the company in Belgium and they have confirmed that they are happy with a French cheque. Will send it of tomorrow and report the outcome here in due course.
andyh4
It could well be that they have a French bank account, but as stated normally there will be significant charges - 20ish euros - for handling a foreign euro cheque.

It is only for 16 euros, so I presume that they know what they are doing.
