kip
This is my first year of having a house in St Fraimbault.I know there is some sort of local tax due in January but we have recived nothing.I'm worried that it has got lost on it's way to England (as our water bills did). Can anyone from St Fraimbault or surrounding area let me know if you have recived yours yet.Cheers
Nick Trollope
If you were not the owners of your house on 1 jan 2005, then you are not due to pay until December of 2006. If you pay in January, you will be penalised!
kip
Thanks for that. Is that the case for both taxes? We bought in July and were assked by the vendor to pay half of tax foncieres in October. It is the tax habitation that I am concerned about. BJSLIV
The bill for the Taxe Habitation won't be out until August / September.

As far as I am aware, taxe hab is only ever legally payable by theowner or renter as on Jan 1st. I have never seen any contract that hasasked for a pro rata on taxe hab but in most contracts, if not all now (?),it will say that taxe fonc is payable on a pro rata basis. kip
Sorry chaps but you are totally confusing me now.Tax foncieres is done and dusted until October - when I assume it will come to me.We were the legal owners on 1st January 2006 but not 1st January 2005! Should I have had a Tax Habitation letter for this year or will it go to the previous owner?Perhaps I should just risk my dodgy french and phone up the tax office. Opalienne
If you were owners on January 1 2006 and not January 1 2005, you will get your tax d'habitation bill in the autumn. No need to worry unless it hasn't turned up by, say, November 2006.
Miki
You will pay these taxes in arrears, as you obviously already know by saying Tax foncieres is done and dusted until October . Soas was stated, if you were not in residence on Jan 1st 2005, then youwill not have to pay Taxe Hab this year. You will be due for both taxe hab andtaxe Fonc for 2006, much later on this year.So what local tax is due in January ? Ar you talking dustbins ?Some community charges for those, now come with Taxe Foncières. Anddon't forget, your TV licence (around 116 euros) will be payableon your Taxe Habitation, so if you haven't got a TV or anything thatcan receive TV signals, then better get your skates on and inform them,in your dodgy French !!
