joidevie
Hello..Can anyone give me an idea of what it might cost and the procedure for removing a small number of asbestos roofing sheets on a barn? I'd reckon around 20-30 m/2 at most. Many thanks indeed.
Judie
I had to make an enquiry for a client locally last year. There is one déchetterie in the vicinity that takes asbestos and they were charging 90 euros a tonne. Why not enquire at your local one. If they don't take it then they will know which one does. joidevie
So no specialist 'enterprises' needed? Is it not highly dodgy to handle? It's the corrugated roof type..Thanks..
Judie
No, you can just take it to the déchetterie yourself.
joidevie
Gosh.. I'm slightly surprised? No masks, gloves, space suits?
Quillan
Its only dangerous if you start smashing up etc. If you disassemble the roof as opposed to smashing it off and carefully remove it piece by piece you should be OK. Normally they are bolted down through the 'rafters' so if you can't undo to bolts see if you can grind them off from the inside. If you think you are going to make any asbestos dust then you should of course wear a mask and a one piece suit. Don't take either in to the house nor wash them, bin them preferably inside a plastic bag. In the UK there are companies that dispose of the clothing and masks but I don't have a clue in France. Chancer
My dechetterie wont take it, one in suburbs of Amiens does but you have to live and pay Taxes Foncieres to a canton of Amiens, we can use a sub-contractor who deposits a benne in your garden and then takes the contents to the dechetterie at Amiens as their siege sociale is there but at a cost of about €1500, now thats what I call enterprising and not a space suit to be seen.I bagged mine and filled up a transit van and took it to my local dump in England who have a seperate sealed container for it, except most of the time the door is left open, an ex forum member was convinced that I took it to the UK just to flytip it in a country lane.
