Ian 56
There has been a scam in Loudeac (22) where customers buying fuel at the Leader Price self service filling station have had their cards 'skimmed' and the PIN noted. The details have been used to make withdrawals in South Africa. This happened in the last weeks of August and early September. If you have used this filling station you should check your card statements. The banks concerned will refund the losses if the victims report the matter to the gendarmes.ian
Val_2
The paper also mentions LeClerc and Super U filling stations too in the area. We never fill up out of hours using a machine, far too risky these days and also never withdraw money from machines in big towns where they are not housed within the confines of the bank so can be viewed by CCTV if anything happens. chrisb
We've had this happen at several filling stations near us in the UK, and the scam usually involves a rogue member of staff observing the PIN used - in one case by having the CCTV focused on the keypad. So you may in fact be safer using the "pay at pumps" facility out of hours.
