Juleyandpaul
Hello,Has anyone been to the Parc animalier monts de Gueret near Sevannes south of Gueret? I understand it is a park with Wolves and also an observatory near by.I am thinking of going this weekend but would like to know if it is worth a trip as it will take me over an hour to get there.ThanksJuley
Kent
There was an article on it in Living france recently (December)States there is also a planetarium there. 10 euros to visit both.Open daily April to Sept 10am - 6pm. Weds Sat and Sun October - March.Seems like sun seems to attract them out for sunbathing so best views of them then otherwise seem a bit timid. Some walking involved as cars are left away from the main site, then an exihibition on history, myths and wolf pack life.Hope this helps
Paris
we visited the park last August, about 13.00 hours, before the afternoon rush - by car just follow all signs up into the depths of foret de chabrieres (just south of Gueret, direction Aubusson)and park where directed. Then walk up to entrance, on path through trees. I do not know opening hours at this time of year. Some Brits. had moaned via Visitors' book about cost of entrance, but I would imagine the tourist season here is not very long re high visitor numbers. V.gd wolf museum. Some wolves in small enclosures and easily seem. Those in central enclosure came more eagerly as they heard sounds of children's voices from the top of palisade (do they enjoy some infant meat!?) One walks quite a way down to see forest enclosures, where apparently the wolves are watching you. You are supposed to stay v. still and they will come - they stayed hidden while we were there and I gather this part of the tour is a bit of a gamble. Feeding time was 4.00 p.m. in Summer - if you know when it is at this time of year, suggest you aim to go for this event.
