JeanS
I have a house near St.Severe - we'll be en famille over Christmas & New Year & I need tofind somewhere to buy some wood for the fire. I've had a quote of 30Euros per stere with a minimum delivery of 10 steres ( I only really need 5). Anyone know where I can get some?
Deimos
Sorry I cannot help except, if you are having it delivered check what delivery costs will be. When I first moved here I needed to purchase some wood for that winter (no time to season my own) and the delivery was twice the cost of the wood (they didn’t give me a cost, just with delivery it would be three times what they had quoted (so I collected it myself).I’m sure that not everybody selling firewood charges like that but worth checking.Ian
hoverfrog
not just delivery - but they charge for stacking too! Over €3 per stere, which sdoon mounts up, and we could've done a better job. We weren't that worried really, as we got ours from the local CAT and I'm in favour of what they do.The answer to where to get the wood from is as always to ask your neighbours hoverfrog
JeanS
Thanks for your comments - we did ask the neighbour. I'll think I'll give this idea a miss this time. We've got quite alot of wood around the place which we can use.
Teamedup
Three euros a stere to stack wood. Well I wouldn't work for that, a stere is quite a bit of wood. We never did get it stacked by anyone but ourselves, well husband, as I am rather good at making avalanches, but at a price like that I would have. napoleon
Jean, I thought I had left a reply last week but it has gone missing! I buy logs from Andre Labesse who lives in Vauduan, near Pouligny St Martin. He delivers to our house in Pouligny Notre Dame using his tractor and trailer. We pay 72 euros for two steres, including delivery and stacking. His number is in the local annuaire. He may be prepared to deliver as far as you.
