Alcazar
I find the book version, (and, for that matter, the phone book white pages), difficult to get my head round. If I'm looking for, say, a plumber, I want to be able to look under his name, then see his address, rather than have to know what village he's in.I can see the use, in departments as big as French ones, but it takes some getting used to.Alcazar
Teamedup
Even more difficult Alcazar is that the Paris phone books used to be done by street name. I don't know whether they still are, but if you didn't know where someone lived then, well I for one was snookered.
SaligoBay
Even more difficult Alcazar is that the Paris phone books used to be done by street name. I don't know whether they still are, but if you didn't know where someone lived then, well I for one was snookered.A French neighbour explained that they're done this way (Paris and the villages) to protect your privacy, in that if someone doesn't even know your address, they have no reason to be looking for your phone number. Or something like that. Enfin bref, there is, as you would expect, a Very Good Reason for doing it this way.
