Cycle retailers?

Recommended Posts

Thee are quite a lot of cycle retailers and repairers listed in Yellow Pages - whereabouts exactly?

e.g. Creuse 23000 Guéret,  Cycles Durand 05 55 52 16 24

Vente et conseils sur l'achat  de votre vélo de course ou de votre VTT.   Services et entretien assuré par nos soins.

e.g. Limousin 87220 Feytiat, Culture Velo 05 55 06 20 70

Accessoires - Atelier toutes marques.  Dépôt-vente occasions.

There're 4 listed under La Soutterraine for

SALE, REPAIR OF MOTORCYCLES, BICYCLES, SPARE PARTS

but at least 2 look like motorbike rather than bicycle specialists.  If neither of them does bicycle repairs you can always expand the search to the region.

We took my grandaughter's second hand bike for repair and checking over before use.  The shop was quite small but the owner seemed very knowledgeable and dedicated.  He told us that he had been fettling and selling cycles for forty years but after spending a couple of hours on the cycle he had been unable to repair it as the parts were no longer available. This made sense as is was an old childs cycle that my daughter had bought second hand.  He wasn't prepared to take anything for his time but we decided to get her a new one which he had on promo.  Again he seemed to know what he was doing and wanted to ensure that everything was adjusted correctly before she used it.

Shop was in Gueret I'm 99% sure that it was Beaubrun Cycles but can't find my receipt.  It's a small shop on a corner, the situation looks about right when I've looked at the map via yellow pages on line.

Becca, I'm in the same boat as you in that we're going to sell our bikes in GB and buy replacements in France.  I've been making a few cursory searches on ebay.fr, and although nothing suitable has come up for me personally yet, it is perhaps something you could consider along with using conventional retailers via the Yellow Pages.  You can search on 'new' and 'used'.
