Camping in the Lake district?

Recommended Posts

Hello... anyone reading from Correze?  We're looking for a place to camp.  We're really keen to visit the lakes, seen lots of pictures but never visited... so we're planning a short trip at the end of August.

Can anyone recommend a campsite or the best lakes area to head for?  We're ideally looking for something small so not having loads of facilities wont be a problem... what we'd really love to be able to do though is camp by a lake and be able to swim... any ideas?

thank you [:D]

Hi

There is a very small campsite in Meuzac (Camping de Bouvreuils) which is not in the Correze but right on the border. Meuzac has 3 lakes one with a beach and two others on which they water ski. The campsite is not next to the lake but the lake with the beach is about 5 mins walk. I have never been onto the campsite so I can not say what facilities it has. There is another larger campsite in Lubersac (cant remember the name) which is also near to a lake.

Happy camping [:D]

There is also a campsite by the lake at Marcillac La Croisille. Typical french old style camp site. Right beside the lake with a small beach , with small area for children with swings etc. Is a big lake with water skiing at the other end. Bridge crossing the lake is the old railway line ! Village not far, walkable with general shop, post office, bank and baker.

Happy holiday

Have just checked on the net so if you want to look just put in camping Marcillac La Croisille, Think it is called Camping du Lac. Looks big and busy in pictures but is not very full at all so if you want quiet then it s very quiet here ! I live around 15 km away [:)]

No problem. I am sure you will love it especially if the weather is as now [:D] Remember if you venture from the campsite to visit Chateau de Sediere and La Roche Canillac including La Roche Basse. There is an amazing view of the village if you take the road to or from La Roche Basse to St Martin La Meane.Baker in La Roche is excellent and croissants are superb. Don't worry if there is not much on the shelves , there is lots behind ! I have no idea why she brings everthing through one at a time! Has done that since we came here 4 years ago !

Happy camping
