jane56
I've just found this on another forum and think is So useful. On the top right of www.grumpyoldgitsinfrance.com they have search that looks in all the french forums and the like so you can find things wherever they where posted. It's done through Google somehow and looks just like a normal Google page.Very handy if you are like me and keep seeing useful things but cannot remember where!Jane
Sunday Driver
Just tried that search option. It's just a custom Google search and it only seems to return links to a limited number of forums such as AngloInfo and Frenchentree - some sort of commercial tie-up, I imagine. So much for their claim "Search ALL French forums".Not much use if it doesn't point you towards the best - LF........[:D]
tebee
Hi, I'm the man who wrote the search and, no it's not affiliatedto any of the sites mentioned nor is it a commercially sponsored search, it fact thewhole of the grumpyoldgits site is none commercial, it run by its members forit’s members, the Google ad’s it carriespay for the hosting and the like. It was just something I set up because Ithought it would be useful. It should be finding posts from Living France/Complete France as I’ve addedthem to the site list to be searched, infact Complete France was the forth siteI added of currently 30 sites – though quite a few of them are the variousAngloinfo’s ! I’ll go away and check whyits not finding posts on here. If anyone knows of any more sites that should be added pleaselet me know, there used to be a list of all French forums on Peter’s Languedoc page but I can’t find itnow. The search is freely available so if anyone wants to add itto their site just let me know and I’ll send you the code.Tom

tebee
Well I’velooked at my search and it seems that results for this forum are being returned, but often on the later pages. This is , unfortunately , probably just arefection of their position in the Google search rankings. The other two seemto dominate there probably just by their shear size and popularity.. I’ll havea look and see if there is anyway I can influencethe ranking to give preference to what I consider to be the more informativesites. Oh and I’ve managed to find Peter’s list offorums and I seem to have included most of them. Of the ones that are missing someare general expat sites, to include them would bring in lots of confusing and irrelevantinformation that applies to other counties. I’ve also left out some very small sitesand those that are now closed, also the MSN and Yahoo based ones as these aremostly out of date
