Removal firms Cambs

Recommended Posts

Hi all - can anyone recommend (or not as the case may be) a removal company in the Cambridgeshire area. We need to move most of the contents of a two bed house including 90 feet of books - too much for a man with avan but only a part load for a big company. Thanks - feel free to send a pm if necessary.

We moved from CB in 2003 to Provence. We used a guy called Barry Stone Removals....google him, he lives/lived in Bar Hill

Apart from our removal I have no connection with him. he was reasonably priced and a brilliant removal man, can't recommend him highly enough.

Then thing with a firm like Bardies being part of a big group, is that they communicate needs for part loads to all members- then arrange it all. We had furniture going in 4 directions - into storage then into a flat in UK, to both daughters, one in Notts one in Surrey- and rest to Switzerland. They were brilliant.

Not sure if it is on any use but we will be wanting to move a similar size load from Perpignan region to Huntingdon - not just yet but fairly soon!

We would be flexible over dates.

Bit of a longshot.

Maybe it could benefit us both?

Thanks for the Bardies recommendations. I have had a quote from them which is fairly pricey but if they are good then that's v important. Unfortunately our English neighbours in France say they used a Britannia company who carefully locked all their stuff in a container with seals etc and then delivered it out of the container loose it having been unpacked and re-packed several times in various depots - which rather defeated the whole point - especially as they didn't open everything at once and are still finding broken items years after the event (their house renovation is an ongoing story........)  Hopefully this was an isolated incident but I have heard of other firms doing the same thing.

Packers arrived day before move - we watched them pack expertly - lorry and men sat/slept on our drive and left next morning - and arrived at destination next evening - I wouldn't let them sleep in van bec. of snow and cold - so slept in spare room and then got on with the job and left after a hearty meal at our local resto. Couldn't fault them. But main thing is to talk to Mr Bardwa in person as he is such a nice and so helpful - I'm sure he would cope with a bit of bartering.
