Having noticed Bugbears posting for a quick laugh ,I thought it might be a follow on.

Having read all the warnings about scam's and the latest attempts to get money out of the unwary I thought I wouldn't fall for the dodges,BUT..

Some years ago when re-furbing a superstore in Poole Dorset, we had a team of brothers, the Doyles, replacing the roof with coated metal sheets + insulation. One morning they were complaining that a delivery was late and untill it arrived they couldn't get on with anything, so they went off to their usual cafe around the corner for the big fry-up. About 10 mins after they'd gone a chap, in working gear, came onto the site asking for the Doyle's." Not here at the moment,"   I've got a lorry load of metal sheeting for them and I'm in the garage at the bottom of the road,my company petrol card won't work in the machine and I've no other cash on me" £20 .00 out of pocket and several years later, I'm still wondering if he heard the Doyle's talking in the cafe and saw an opportunity, or if the Doyle's got me to pay for the fry-up.

When we first arrived here we let it be known to a few neighbours, both brits and french that we needed a chimney sweep. One week later a man knocked on the door and said he'd come to sweep the chimneys.What nice neighbours we thought, they've found a sweep for us already. So the guy did the first chimney and then said he'd do the second one at a reduced rate. Of course we let him. During all this time we fed and watered his little girl, who he'd brought with him and gave him a couple of beers. When finished he went on his merry way humming a jolly tune.

The next morning who should knock on the door but the REAL himney sweep. Never found out who the other guy was but he had 80 euros out of us. Easy money eh?
