AnOther
Guts and ballsThere is a medicaldistinction and we've all heard about people having guts or balls, but doyou really know the difference between them? In an effort to keep youinformed, the definitions are listed below:GUTS - Is arrivinghome late after a night out with the boys, being met by your wife witha broom, and having the guts to ask: ''Are you still cleaning, or areyou flying somewhere?''BALLS - Is coming home late after anight out with the boys, smelling of perfume and beer, lipstick on yourcollar, slapping your wife on the arse and having the balls to say:''You're next, fatty.''I hope this clears up any confusion onthe definitions. Medically speaking, there is no difference in theoutcome, since both ultimately result in death.

woolybanana
Now which vulgar did Hyacinth mean? The joke is not really any of these.1.characterized by ignorance of or lack of good breeding or taste: vulgar ostentation. 2.indecent; obscene; lewd: a vulgar work; a vulgar gesture. 3.crude; coarse; unrefined: a vulgar peasant. 4.of, pertaining to, or constituting the ordinary people in a society: the vulgar masses. 5.current; popular; common: a vulgar success; vulgar beliefs. 6.spoken by, or being in the language spoken by, the people generally; vernacular: vulgar tongue. 7.lacking in distinction, aesthetic value, or charm; banal; ordinary: a vulgar painting. (Dic.com)I do like definitions 3 and 4What is good breeding? How can beliefs be vulgar(5)? These definitions are really crass, aren't they. Looks like bad dictionary work to me.Now, if I say our Ernie has a vulgar tongue or keyboard what does it mean?Frith, this just looks like a language teachers worksheet. Polremy
i think that vulgar means "of the crowd, people" , from the latin "vulgus"- sort of lower class.
