Alan Zoff
I can't seem to get PayPal to accept my Credit Agricole Maestro card as a valid card. Not sure if I am doing something wrong or whether PayPal just doesn't like dealing with this bank or card.I am in England at present trying to pay a German Ebay seller the euro price using my euro funds in France. Seemed like it ought to work.... Obviously, I can just use the normal PayPal sterling option but it's not a cheap item so I begrudge using PayPal's exchange rate of 132 euros to the pound.Anyone know a way around this? Jonzjob
Our CA card works OK on paypal, but it's not a Maestro. We also have an English paypal jobbie on an English card with no problems..
AnOther
132 Euros to the pound seems eminently fair to me [:D]Being Maestro seems to be the problem.https://www.paypal-community.com/t5/forums/searchpage/tab/message?filter=labels%2Clocation&location=forum-board%3AUS-Settings&q=maestro
dave21478
CA lumbered me with a Maestro card when I first opened the account and it was hopeless. I had incessant problems with many online transactions and a feeble weekly rolling limit of about €500 iirc. I sacked it off and got a Mastercard instead. Which costs ME more money, but hey....welcome to France. [:@]
suein56
132 Euros to the pound seems eminently fair to me [:D]
[:)][:)] Our pensions would be worth a huge amount ... lovely jubbly.Though the value of our home would be miniscule ... so, on second thought, perhaps not.Sue [;-)]
Alan Zoff
Thanks for the replies, in particular that link AnOther. As indicated, looks like it's the limitations of the French Maestro card and, for a change, not my own limitations with IT.
Jonzjob
It reminds me of when we were paying for our credit card in the U.K. I phoned the bank to demand that the payment should stop, all ready to argue that others weren't paying, and was told "certainlt sir, I'll stop the charges straight away". hey were stopped, BUT if I hadn't phoned they would have carried on and I wondered just how much extra they made from that misinformation!I am going to demand the same on the next visit to CA. I ain't holding me breff [blink]
