woolybanana
Had a long conversation with my neighbour today concerning, amongst other things expats paying social charges and the European court decision. Not just any old fool, he is a tax inspector.Though it is not his field, he said that a colleague had got hold of all the expat tax files and was looking at the implications of the decision and how to apply it.Then he said that it would be a waste of time applying if one was either working in France and paying charges or, in any sense, a burden on the French State.I enlightened him about the workings of the S1 which did impress him as he, like most Frenchmen, thought UK expats were being paid for the French social security system. So, the work is in progress here though how long it will take, noone can say. What I suspect is that it would be a good idea for everyone concerned to get a fresh copy of the S1 from Newcastle as I am sure they will ask to see it; I seem to remember that they do one in French. Perhaps a more knowing head can advise.
mint
Good thinking, Wools. A new copy of the S1 seems like a very good thing. You may or may not have noticed that I wrote on the Forum re the taxman ringing me and having no clue as to why I thought I could claim back the charges.Parsnips, who does know about these things, has advised that we await official confirmation from the, I think he said, finance ministry. CPAM managed to lose mine twice [8-)].So I provided them with yet another copy, which they misplaced once again. Though I only found out about the 3rd time when I received a new set from the UK. When I rang up to ask why I had been sent 2 more S1 the very-nice-lady in the UK explained that CPAM had rung them up and asked for them. As CPAM got new versions so did I.Sue
