[/quote]I saw the last series and was entranced. He describes himself as an animator ... which, IMO, just about sums up his self-imposed mission of (re)animating people and bringing them back to life.Sue
idun
I cannot help it, when I hear this song, I get tearful. Gareth Malone should get a knighthood, I really cannot think of anyone more deserving.
Gardengirl
It's top of my Christmas list, and also on one son's list - he's very into music and choirs, and originally alerted me to the early programmes. I do hope it makes it the top of the charts, and as Russethouse says it's also for two very worthwhile causes. I loved each series with Gareth and found them inspirational, but especially this one with the military wives, and to see them end up singing at the Festival of Remembrance at the Albert Hall was amazing. It was lovely to see and hear Sam singing the solo, and that her tattoos were on show (although I don't like them myself!); right from the start she was so lacking in confidence and couldn't even bring herself to try a solo in front of the others - so inspirational.I loved it that the words were mainly taken from letters between the wives/husbands/partners while the men were serving in Afghanistan, and the title from an engraving on a bracelet given to one of the wives by her soldier husband - very moving. I think the music by Paul Mealor fits the words so well. Music means so much to so many of us, and choirs seem to give something special to those who are involved in them.
