Gardian
This only applies to anybody where one or both partners have earnings from an occupational pension which was 'public service' .I received our assessment last week and the first thing that surprised me was how early it was. "The Frenchies are starting to get a bit efficient" I thought to myself. When I saw the bottom line number, I was less happy - the figure was over E500 more than my own spreadsheet said it should have been.It was immediately obvious that no account had been taken of Mrs G's pension earnings in public service. I checked online and my form 2047 was there, with the correct amount. Hey ho I thought, best pop in to the local office and get this sorted.Went in the following morning - it being August there was only one Inspector working, but there were only 4 in front of me. Unfortunately the couple who arrived just before me had brought two massive bags of paperwork - not good! They took half an hour, but then it was me."Ah Monsieur, you didn't transfer the figure to 8TK" she said triumphantly. I was absolutely certain that I had, but decided not to argue - better to let her think that the stupid Anglais had tromped than get in to a debate about which exchange rate I'd used. What amazed me was that rather than correct it there and then with my dossier there in front of her, she handwrote a lengthy form (which took 3x the time to just fill in the form) for someone else to action. Anyway, the correction arrived in the post today and was spot on.So .......... my point. Any of you with earnings in this category should see a line which says "Credit d'impot sur revenue etrangers". If there's no such mention on your assessment, then it hasn't been taken account of for whatever reason. With the exchange rate in our favour of late, you might just have thought that you're going to pay more tax and reluctantly shrugged your shoulders.
