Russethouse
What's the best book you have read this year ?I have had a Philippa Gregory phase and read many of her books this year and am currently enjoying the Wideacre trilogy by her too, but the book that really sticks in my mind that I read earlier in the year is Small Island by Andrea Levy - I loved it, very cleverly written, and dealing with a period I can just remember the end of. Thoroughly recommended !http://www.amazon.co.uk/Small-Island-Andrea-Levy/dp/075530750X/sr=8-1/qid=1165358596/ref=sr_1_1/026-5102568-6085261?ie=UTF8&s=books
Dick Smith
Tommy, by Richard Holmes.Probably the best modern description of the First World War from the point of view of the men who fought.
Hoddy
I've been wanting to read that Will Self book; perhaps someone will treat me for Christmas. I think my favourite this year has been the Life and Death of Ann Boleyn by Eric Ives. It changed my view of that patch of history. Not strictly on topic I know but published today is http://www.tesco.com/books/product.aspx?R=0007241127 the author is a former pupil and no, I'm not on commission.
