Cassis
What was it for, apart from having Baileys in it - cake? This isn't it, is it?
Sorrythat this is a bit off the original thread but as we're talking aboutchocolate fondue ... I've had a little chocolate fondue set for years(donated from the back of my MIL's cupboard) and by far the best recipefor it is to melt chunks of Mars Bar in a bowl over a pan of water andadd a little bit of cream to make it the correct consistency. Occasionally, well, most of the time actually, I also add a dash ofwhatever alcoholic beverage takes my fancy, (usually Cointrau, Baileys, brandy or similar - or all [:-))]). When it's all melted and gorgeousjust tip it in to the little bowl and put it over the tealight thingy(you could actually construct your own little setup - but only underthe guidance of an adult!)We have it with cut up fruit, bananas are particulalry good, and marshmallows.Mmmm....Lynda M

Cassis
Well that's really odd as there's almost nothing with Baileys (or Baleys or any other possible mis-spelling) on the forum. Maybe it was another site?

JayJay
Thankyou Ford Anglia, although it looks like I won't be having a screaming orgasm, owing to the fact I have no Galliano, so I'll have a mildly noisy one instead![:D]Merry Christmas

Cassis
Without Baileys the build-up of forces following the Allied D-Day invasion would have been a lot more difficult. One of the major objectives for 6 Airborne Division was to capture intact the bridges over the Caen Canal at Benouville (Pegasus Bridge) and the River Orne at Ranville. They were captured intact, with all demolition charges being successfully removed by the Sappers. However, their load carrying capacity was inadequate for tracked vehicles or for heavy trucks and transporters, but they did provide access to both banks. In all, a total of eight major Baileys were constructed across these two waterways.
