Dick Smith
The 'Blues' thread has put an idea up - what playlist would you have on your iPod for a particular time/task/mood?This one, from mine, is called "Alex Disco", the Alex being a pub, Julie and I being students and the year being about 1972:All Right Now Free Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood The Animals Going Up the Country Canned Heat Hard To Handle Otis ReddingHonky Tonk Women The Rolling Stones I Can See For Miles The Who Jumpin' Jack Flash The Rolling Stones Let's Work Together Canned Heat Little Bit Of Love Free On the Road Again Canned Heat Paint It, Black The Rolling StonesPiece Of My Heart Janis JoplinRag Mama Rag The Band Respect Aretha FranklinSatisfaction The Rolling StonesSpirit in the Sky Norman Greenbaum Strange Brew CreamTobacco Road Nashville Teens You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet Bachman-Turner Overdrive I'm still looking for Marsha Hunt's version of Walk on Gilded Splinters - any ideas? Dick Smith
Yes, I found that last one. It's a nice bit of nostalgia, but not worth £50! One day it'll end up on a compilation - though that said, the old 'Greatest Hits of the 50s/60s/70s" etc CDs seems to be over.

Mark
Don't really know what an iPod is, but assuming it only allows you roughly the number of songs on Dick's list, I'd warmly welcome the following, for a dancey feel:Love Will Tear Us Apart - Joy Division Black Dog - Led ZeppelinBizarre Love Triangle - New OrderJust Like Heaven - The Cure Subterranean Homesick Blues - Robert ZimmermanIn The Flesh - Pink FloydTonight - The Smashing PumpkinsThe Revolution Will Not be Televised - Gil Scott HeronSound And Vision - David JonesBela Lugosi's Dead - BauhausZiggy Stardust - Bauhaus (David Jones)Israel - Siouxsie and the BansheesSmells Like Teen Spirit - NirvanaI Hate Nerys Hughes - Half Man Half BiscuitAn Outbreak of Vitus Gerilitis - Half Man Half BiscuitI Am The Resurrection - The Stone RosesBank Robber - The ClashHoliday In Cambodia - The Dead KennedysCome Together - The BeatlesAnarchy In The UK - The Sex PistolsWhat's Going On - Marvyn GayeOh gawd there's soooooooooo many more. Going to play all those now though.......nb - Dick, your new chimp is really disturbing. Stop it.
Dick Smith
Mark - I've got a smallish, oldish iPod, I have 2700 songs (6.9 days of music) on mine, with room for a few hundred more. With the iPod you can set up different playlists for different moods or circumstances. And if you think this chimp is disturbing, wait until you see the next one... Mark
Dick, I may know nothing about this alien gadget of which you speak, but what a good thread starter. I think one can find out much more about one's virtual buddies through their music than from their photographic self-portraits. Super. Hope we get lots more offerings. Oh, I forgot Elvis. Any early Elvis. Divine.

Dick Smith
If you open the playlist in iTunes, select all, copy and paste, then edit out all the chaff, it comes up single spaced.
