Suandpete
We will be travelling down to Southern Spain soon to see our daughter; I have heard that quite a few people who live in France near the Spanish border go across to shop - what is particularly good value in Spain compared to here in France? Richard-R
Everything is cheaper in Spain. Booze and cig's are a lot cheaper. We often drive to Girone to hypercor to do a major shop.
Lori
Isn't there a limit on how much ciggies and booze you can bring back?
BJSLIV
There are no limits on a reasonable amount from Spain. Don't try it on with a lorry load. Non-EU limits apply to Andorra. Its worth filling up the car with fuel just the other side of the border on the way in and on the way out.
Suze01
Isn't there a limit on how much ciggies and booze you can bring back?
Re the ciggies, I believe there is a law in France in that you are only allowed to have 200 cigarettes on your person, so in theory you could be stopped and have them confiscated. Having said that we bought back 500€ worth of ciggies from Spain (that's a lot of clopes) for BIL and didn't get stopped. And when the douanes stopped him leaving France for the UK they let him through with them. Somebody else might have a reference to this law. Lori
Yes Susie I have friends who go down there regularly and they have said there are limits. I don't remember the exact limits, but they were on the small scale. I guess it would be a question of whether you get stopped and/or searched or not.I have never been. Suandpete
Many thanks for the suggestions. There probably won't be room for a stuffed donkey but our matching sombreros can go on the roof rack.
Cerise
The donkey can wear at least one of the sombreros - you can remove some of his stuffing and use contreband ciggies and you can eat the biscuits before the border. You'll get him across somehow[:D]
