Paysages de France
I have nothing further to add....if there are people out there who take this singer seriously - then I seriously suggest they consult a psychiatrist - or, they procure themselves with a quick fix of some decent music. In France, it's very simple - since 1987, 'Les Inrockuptibles' - the most British biased of the French music/culture weeklies (latterly monthly) has been extolling the virtues of the British music scene........ In answer to Katie Mulea, for instance, this week they propose - The Klaxons, The Arcade Fire, The Arctic Monkeys, Amy Winehouse, Rufus Wainwright, Bat for Lashes, and yes .........Mika (pas mal du tout)........... It all becomes clear, an advertising hoarding did crash down on your head & that's where your hatred of them comes from & Katie & Elton must have had ads for their new CD's on it.Change the bloody record!
Do your musical tastes match your vehicle preference? Actually, I did once own a Ford Anglia for a few months and drove it to Istanbul and back, listening to Van Morrison (Astral Weeks) all the way. No major problems apart from losing the exhaust system in Yougoslavia, a country where, four years later, in 1977, I became stuck 'with hardly a dinar' just like in the song by Roy Harper 'Nobody's got any money in the summer'. Paysages de France
Expressing all life's experiences by pap musak is like a sort of downmarket Nick Hornby novel!Worrying....................[blink] I'm only making comments about pop music here because everytime I mention more serious issues they are either removed immediately or the campaign that I'm involved in is ridiculed (and this right from the start). For the record (no pun intended): four more giant, illegal advertising signs (20m wide 15m high) have been removed in Montauban these past few days thanks to our efforts. ('Géant Casino' and a massive, ugly sign for the swimming pool suppliers 'Irrijardin' - you'll probably all be blaming me now because you can't find where to top up on your swim pool chemicals !) Paysages de France
'Gluestick's' message concludes with 'worrying' and the little smily that follows (these visual aids are apparently for the benifit of people not used to reading and who need the meaning of a text explained to them, as Clair, (or maybe it was Russet House) once explained to me ) ........... Gluestick
I fear the PdF effect is spreading. Is it a sort of virus, contracted from advertising hoardings??[8-)]This was PdF's post aimed, one can only presume at Ford Anglia.
Do your musical tastes match your vehicle preference?Actually, I did once own a Ford Anglia for a few months and drove it to Istanbul and back, listening to Van Morrison (Astral Weeks) all the way. No major problems apart from losing the exhaust system in Yougoslavia, a country where, four years later, in 1977, I became stuck 'with hardly a dinar' just like in the song by Roy Harper 'Nobody's got any money in the summer'.
Here is my riposte.
Expressing all life's experiences by pap musak is like a sort of downmarket Nick Hornby novel!Worrying....................
And then dear Pearly, you wrote:
So you think Katie Melua is crap too, so you have something in common with PsG after all!
Where did I say that or even hint at it??PdF quotes Van Morrison; and then Roy Harper. Is this some sort of Esparanto code for Katie Melua?Who needs Enigma machines!(Gluey puts on Thunderer on Sunday crossword and anagram head..............)Now, let's see,Van: hmm, Ford Anglia van with Morris engine. Son of Morris, must be BMW who now make the mini. Now Roy Harper must have something to do with Roy Rogers who had a horse called trigger, with four legs (well, I think he had four legs??) and Harper must be the way PdF harps on about advertising signage.Ergo, It's a four legged sign for BMW minis outside Royale le Bain!Cor wee! [geek]N.B. I think I'd better leave this thread before it sends me mad..........too!
Pearly Spencer
I had thought that your statement 'Expressing all life's experiences by pap musak is like a sort of downmarket Nick Hornby novel!' I was mistaken. You need to lighten up a bit Gluestick, and by the way I am not your 'dear' nor will I ever be. It is very strange how passionate you become over PdF.[;-)]regardsPearly
Gluestick
Oh dear!We have two now!Your comment is illogical, Mate and fails to make sense. Read it again and perhaps edit it?Tip.Would be helped by adding should, ought, could, would, may, can, can't, won't, etc, imediately after "novel!"; and thereafter some additional words to make grammatical sense. However why bother if you are having fun?Is this part of the forum rapidly becoming the psychiatric ward?
