Clair
I have had this strange electric contraption for many years and for some weird reason, I just couldn't get round to using it.I had used one at school as part of a project and like most people, I had seen my mother use one. When in England, I had this fantasy that if only I had one, I would undoubtedly manage to achieve some unique and utterly fantastic result, which everyone of my friend wouldn't fail to envy...So I bought one... and after unpacking it, reading the instructions book and leaving it unused on the table for weeks, yes weeks, I repacked it and put it away in the shed, where I would not have to face the guilt of the money I had wasted...With the help of the removal men, it arrived in France. It remained in the cellar, with the other boxes filled with all the other useless indispensable things we couldn't possibly leave behind.I had always had this mental block about using it but for some unexplained reason, this week, it felt right. I just knew I could do it.Out of the cellar came the box.Out of the box came the contraption.I have finally succeeded and there's no stopping me now! [:-))]Yeah!At last, I have successfully used my sewing machine!!

S
That makes 2 pleased people on the forum today. What did you produce on your machine to make you so full of the joys of life? Was it something new to wear?
Clair
Not wanting to waste any good item of clothing, I first set out to make a cover for a large bolster pillow (one cut, one length to sew!)After that, I got rather carried away and proceeded to shorten and re-hem the legs of a nice pair of too-long chinos...I have conquered the machine and there's no stopping me now!Move away Stella![Www]
Cat
Titter ye not! As a proud owner of an almost-brand-new-sewing machine, I can revisit the years of tuition from madame Sanitos with affection and humour now. It's just that threading that needle takes a good bit longer than it did in those days (no matter how hard I squint). woolybanana
So you are the Old Lady of Threadneedle Street? And given you are a bird, the Old Lady of Tweadneedle Tweet? If dyslexic, then the Dlo Ydal fo Eldeendaewt Teewt?Given the resemblace to the Welsh language of the latter, it suggests two things: firstly you have been telling porkies about your nationality, and secondly that Welsh is only a dyslexic form of English, which many have long wanted to prove.QED one of us is mad

woolybanana
Let me tell you about Barbie when I was in Florence. OK, mods having drinkie poos and dinner? Well, she was of course Merican and what a little stunner. Remember, this was 1968, the summer of wildness and running from the CRS. Anybody been to Florence will remember that slightly primitive camp site over looking the city from the hill opposite. I was young and so was she, on my own with a thumb and a backpack, and a two person tent designed for shall we say closeness. She with a group of students, marshalled by protectors as only Mericans can find. (Now, all the mods are poised with their red key.)At this point I shall stop. It gets really hot if you like, but it is not really France related so is thoroughly reprehensible and I will not continue. In fact I shall go to confession and do whatever. But I could be persuaded to continue if you beg me, just like Barbie....[6]

So I'm told.By the way, there are a lot of the wooly tribe, including a woolyroofer. You were just pissed and heard wrong. Unless you mean gorgeous Uncle, called Auntie Ron. Now S/he is special. woolybanana
Alright, the mod says I can go a bit further. There was this place where they played music and pinball and you could buy cheap pizza. I still have the taste in my mouth. N I was alone and went there to play and kill and hour before bible class. And I met these lovely American kids on a reward trip for having studied so very very hard and being on top of the world. Barbie was there and we quickly made eye contact. We shared a pizza... No, I'm gonna stop because I am a good person and saved and almost a Republican with a wide sitting stance. So this is not( proper.)I feel unwanted and unloved.
