londoneye
Sorry, this is incredibly dull, and I really don't know where to put it.We are going back to UK for a few days in nearish future and want to have a hire car. Almost every site I look at says that you need a credit card which is in same name as drivers licence. We only have french bank cards (and I have a UK debit card). Has anyone done this, and do you know if they will accept my french bank card, which is not a true credit card, as i see it.Also, in view of fact we are french resident, our drivers licenses still show our UK address. Is that going to cause any problems ??
derf
The driving licence won't be a problem but if you can't find an hire company on line to pay and prebook, with the cards that you have, then I can't see you being able to hire a car from any af the major companies I did know someone once who managed to leave a great wedge of cash as a deposit with Hertz but I know from experience that it is not normal, they want to be able to charge your credit card for any problems that may occur during the rental. MrCanary
I regularly hire cars in the UK and France and always pay with my debit card - never a problem!
londoneye
I will pay in advance on line then and present my french card on arrival. Many thanks. Had visions of sitting outside Stansted Airport with no hire car and no transport arranged !
