WJT
That is sickening. I understand the term "sometimes you have to deal with the devil for the better good" but this is ridiculous. I don't think he should have even been invited but certainly not treated like a king. [:@]
Alan Zoff
Just goes to show the gullibility of the human race. If you have the nerve and a particular sort of charisma, you can get people to accept almost anything. It helps, as in God-awfull's case, if you have control of the armed forces. But look at the cults that have existed throughout the world, including America's bible-belt, whose leaders rely only on mind control. And the power of popes, pop stars, film stars, "celebrities" and sportsmen/women, whether or not they are persuasive speakers. The sheep out there can't get enough of them. Beckham, a footballer, could no doubt fill a hall with people keen to hear what he has to say(!) far easier than a literary genius. I think it was Robbie Williams who said there were moments at one of his sell-out concerts - Wembley or some other enormous venue - when he felt he could have got that crowd to do almost anything he asked. Storm the palace? Why not? They were spell-bound. How Gordon must wish he had that sort of power - and even he must have something to be where he is.Fascinating, really. But not very comforting.
