Sad yes, but look at the picture used to show the breed of dog. Pure sensationalistic  journalism.

In nearly all these cases the blame rests firmly with the owners of the dog and not the animal itself. That said I don't believe that Rotweillers are suitable dogs for families with children. They were bred originally in Germany for guard dogs and are potentially dangerous if not kept under strict supervision.

I have personal experience of the 2000lb bite pressure they can achieve when a bite on the arm from a friends dog both broke the radius bone in my forearm and tore the surrounding muscles. I still have the scars to prove it and I was actually stroking it at the time..
