Frederick
I was told today by a guy who had rewired his house he got his cat to help him .....In the lounge he lifted two floor boards dropped the cat down under the floor with a line tied to its collar and then called it to the under end of the room lifted it out and then tied the cable to the line and pulled it through.... clever..........every electricion should have one ! Chancer
Most old hand electricians still call a "draw-wire" a "mouse" as that was what they used to pull them through floor cavities.A cat is a better idea as they have the potential to climb vertical cavities but are usually harder to motivate.I once put my cat above the suspended ceiling in my office for an afternoon (replacing the tile after it) to try and sort out a mouse infestation problem, she failed as the mice turned out to be nesting somewhere else, or perhaps she displaced them? Pierre ZFP
Ferrets are used sometimes in the computer industry when particularly akward cabling is needed. The UBS building at Broadgate used a lot. They can get through some amazingly small gaps!
Patf
My husband used to send me down under the floorboards with a wire when we lived in a house with a 1foot gap below the floor. In fact I've done it here once - horrible, all beetles and cobwebs. Because I'm small and skinny.

Nick Trollope
Am I missing the point here? What else are children for? Admittedly, they can be more difficult to control than a cat and are alot less obliging and they do eat more and they do become teenagers (which cats don't appear to do) and want cars and playstations......Here kitty, kitty.....
