Iceni
..if we are to believe BBC Sport websiteAt the Oval test in 2006 the Pakistan team was accused of tampering with it's ball. Took umbrage, refused to come out after tea leaving the umpires no alternative but to(correctly as per the rulebook) abandon the game and award the match to England. It is rumoured that the ICC are to reclassify the match as a draw when next it meets. One wonders whether the same would have happened if the circumstances had been reversed at say Karachi ?Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells
woolybananasbrother
It is nothing to do with PC or racism but plain old fashioned cheating and bad sportsmanship. And an umpire who will not tolerate nonsense.
cassis
A storm in a teabreak?Bloody ridiculous. Under the rules, if you refuse to come out and play, you forfeit the game. Regardless of whether you think the umpire has it in for you. And if memory serves, BOTH umpires agreed that there was evidence of ball tampering. The Pakistani team are far from angels - they've been caught cheating before. I thought Hair was right in the first instance but badly advised in the subsequent storm that arose.
