Angie
We are both British, my husband is 64 and is resident in France. I currently live in the UK and am still working, visiting our house in France 2 or 3 times a month. Obviously my husband is not currently in receipt of his UK state pension and has very limited income, would he be entitled to a reduction in the property tax or taxes even though I earn well above the threshold? The house is in joint names.
Chancer
If he does a declaration des impôts any réductions will be applied automatically according to his revenue fiscale de référence. To my knowledge your income would not be declared. If he is off the radar then more fool him! - that is tongue in cheek and aimed at myself, when I was off the radar it was because I did not have a pot to **** in and did not want to have a tax bill to pay, if only I had known just how many rebates I would have qualified for. EuroTrash
I think you would have to make special arrangements with the tax office to make separate declarations as a married couple. Normally if a couple's family "foyer" is in France then both partners are considered resident.

idun
Interesting link NH.My income is small, but OH's is fine, so would that mean if we moved back, there would be an exoneration????? as it states that only one of the couple needs to have limited revenue????? Or have I really misread it?????AND if that is so, well, that is disgraceful and horrible and I hope that it is wrong, because for all I do not like paying taxes, I do understand that they need paying, and many local councils in France as in the UK are in pretty dire straits at the moment.
