Taxe d'Habitation

Please does anyone know for certain whether the rumours we have heard regarding the abolition of Taxe d'Habitation comes into force during 2018 and if so, it is across the whole of France?

Yes it is going to be phased out over several years for about 80% of folks; whether you pay or not depends on income. I think 23000 euros p a may be the plafond.

But don’t worry, some other tax will be along to make up for it!

Not income but revenu fiscal de reference (RFR) which can be a lot different, 3.5 times less in my case.

 

Being phased out over 3 years, very much doubt that second home owners will get the exemption, the real question is what will replace it, I believe that the taxe d'hab will rise massively for those who will have to pay.

Like I said before, the government will get the tax back in the extra sales of lottery tickets and scratch cards.

It is being phased out progressively over 3 years on your residence principale

If you pay monthly, as it hasn't been calculated fully you will probably find them taking the same amount per month  as they did last year, and then reimbursing the difference when the Time comes to pay the bill.
