Evianers
Please does anyone know for certain whether the rumours we have heard regarding the abolition of Taxe d'Habitation comes into force during 2018 and if so, it is across the whole of France? Thanks for all serious replies and HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE
woolybanana
Yes it is going to be phased out over several years for about 80% of folks; whether you pay or not depends on income. I think 23000 euros p a may be the plafond. But don’t worry, some other tax will be along to make up for it!

Being phased out over 3 years, very much doubt that second home owners will get the exemption, the real question is what will replace it, I believe that the taxe d'hab will rise massively for those who will have to pay. woolybanana
You are retired, did so quite young, clearly did not pay enough tax, betrayed the working class by overworking, worked too many hours. At least lotto and scratch are voluntary! NormanH
https://www.service-public.fr/particuliers/actualites/A12286It is being phased out progressively over 3 years on your residence principaleIf you pay monthly, as it hasn't been calculated fully you will probably find them taking the same amount per month as they did last year, and then reimbursing the difference when the Time comes to pay the bill.
